Alison Krauss, MPAff, was born in Franklin, North Carolina and has lived in western North Carolina her entire life. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 2003 and a Master of Public Affairs degree in 2015 from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She has worked for Western Carolina University for eleven years and is currently the Director of the Office of Research Administration, which supports pre- and post-award support for all grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements at the university.

Alison’s personal connection to cancer and the Lineberger Comprehensive Care Center at UNC is through her husband’s fight with lung cancer in 2016. Aaron Krauss was diagnosed with lung cancer in February 2016 and succumbed to complications due to the illness in May 2016. Alison is a passionate advocate for cancer patients, their families, and survivors. She advocates for better care and additional resources for rural communities in western North Carolina.
